Encore appearance at Berkelouw Book Barn

They call it the Sunshine Coast... HA! Could be a record downpour for Eumundi's Saturday Market Day, but happily, despite the drenching, many book-lovers took The Last Promise home with them. Thank you Kylie and Peta at Berkelouw. We had nice chats with many locals and tourists alike, including Margot, Ian, Shanna, Kate's husband, and Rebecca, and several others travelling incognito. Much appreciate your support.

It seems the world came to Eumundi for Market Day, and The Last Promise has gone out to the world, namely to Canada, the US, New Zealand, and to the UK. Some lovely chatty tourists amongst the locals helped make it a fine day! Special thanks to Berkelouw Books, Eumundi. See you again soon!

Please remove your hat and coat

It seems barely a few weeks since last posting here. That’s how it goes when multi-tasking a working holiday, which at times can seem a test of patience (at airports), answering difficult questions (at airports), removing one’s belt and shoes (at airports), being extorted a king’s ransom for coffee (at airports), wondering if a miracle might come due right about now—at the bloody airport, when told one’s flight has departed, when it hasn’t, and then sprinting with the model-like airline heiress from the check-in counter to another of her insouciant co-workers, to be told everything’s fine darling, just a technical hitch. How lipstick, glamour and Italian youth can appear to save the day.
In the walled city of Lucca can be found the ancient Roman invention of the door intercom.

In the ancient walled city of Lucca, Italy, an image is captured of the ancient Roman invention of a door intercom, ha ha! (In a crusty old brass panel with quirky old buttons surrounded by carved stone are the delicious names: Balducci, Artuzzi, Bianchi, Mattioli, and Fattorini Pizza.)

Bulimba Christmas Markets
Bulimba Memorial Park, Oxford Street, Bulimba

Bulimba Community Christmas Markets was a throroughly enjoyable day: hot and bright, with a solid turnout. Drawn by the unmissable sandwich board, a good number of booklovers were pleased to take home their own copy of the outback Queensland best seller, The Last Promise. Thank you to all who came by. Gotta love the markets!

Roma Community Arts Centre, 38-44 Hawthorne St, Roma
Navigate via https://w3w.co/dinner.remotes.rational

Next stop was Roma: I hadn't been to Roma since the '80s on my way to Carnarvon Gorge. The Roma audience was a tight group with a very positive response to my live reading.

We spent 48 hours at beautiful Quilpie - definitely not long enough to enjoy all of what Quilpie has to offer. But definitely enough time to discover it's an exceptional place with lots of great people, some who came to the reading.

The Last Promise Book Launch
State Library of Queensland

There’s a draw to a book launch when it’s to be held at the BIG library.

A warm and generous crowd enjoyed the long-anticipated appearance of The Last Promise, a south west Queensland story set in train by a solemn promise impossible to keep.

The event, a Q&A, book signing, and post-launch conviviality, all went off without a hitch.
